The upcoming India Mobile Congress (IMC) will serve as the stage for the 2nd International Bharat 6G Symposium, scheduled for October 9–10, 2025 at the Yashobhoomi Convention Centre in New Delhi. Organized in partnership with the Bharat 6G Alliance, the forum will bring together global industry leaders, academics, and policymakers to shape the future of 6G technology.

High-Level Inauguration

The symposium will be inaugurated by Communications Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia, joined by MoS Pemmasani Chandra Sekhar, DoT Secretary Neeraj Mittal, and Principal Scientific Advisor Ajay Sood. Their presence underscores the government’s ambition to position India as a global hub for advanced wireless innovation.

International Participation

More than 70 experts from across the globe will participate, including representatives from Ericsson, Nokia, Nvidia, and Qualcomm, as well as global industry bodies such as the NGMN Alliance and GSMA. Leading universities including IIT Madras, IIT Hyderabad, IIT Kharagpur, IIT Kanpur, Johns Hopkins University, University of Cambridge, Chalmers University, and the University of Glasgow will showcase research and collaborations.

The event’s sessions will span nine key themes—ranging from AI-native 6G networks and spectrum harmonization to non-terrestrial connectivity and global collaboration roundtables. Organisers expect the unveiling of two MoUs and four industry reports, marking critical steps toward global standards and joint R&D pathways.

India’s Strategic Ambitions

Prof. David Koilpillai, Chairman of the Bharat 6G Alliance, said the symposium reflects the vibrancy of India’s digital ecosystem and its drive to lead in the 6G era. “This year’s edition highlights India’s determination to become a frontrunner in the global 6G race through advanced research, development, and international partnerships,” he noted.

Echoing this view, Anil Kumar Bhardwaj, Deputy Director General (Spectrum Engineering) at DoT, stressed that India’s ambitions are directly tied to its active role in shaping international standards. “The symposium is another step in strengthening global partnerships and reinforcing India’s readiness to contribute to the evolving 6G landscape,” he said.

IMC 2025: Asia’s Largest Digital Technology Forum

Running from October 8–11, 2025, the India Mobile Congress is Asia’s largest digital technology event, jointly organised by the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) and the Cellular Operators Association of India (COAI). The four-day exhibition is expected to attract over 1.5 lakh visitors from 150+ countries, with 400+ exhibitors, 7,000 delegates, and more than 800 speakers across 100 sessions. Over 1,500 live showcases will feature advancements in AI, IoT, electronics manufacturing, and next-generation connectivity.

India–Germany Collaboration in 6G

The symposium also resonates with India’s growing international partnerships in next-generation technologies. In 2023, India and Germany released a joint vision document to enhance cooperation in innovation, research, and emerging technologies, with 6G highlighted as a key priority (Ministry of External Affairs). This collaboration reflects a shared ambition to co-develop future telecom solutions, strengthen global standards, and foster an open, secure, and sustainable digital ecosystem.

A Broader Indian Context

As the world prepares for the leap from 5G to 6G, India is positioning itself not just as a participant but as a driver of global innovation. With its robust academic base, fast-growing telecom market, and strategic international partnerships, the country is working to ensure that the next era of connectivity is defined by Indian innovation, Indian talent, and India’s vision of a digitally inclusive Viksit Bharat.
