A delegation of Indian industry leaders completed a five-day study mission to Germany from August 3 to August 7, 2026, focusing on manufacturing excellence, industrial automation, digital transformation and quality management.
Organised by the Confederation of Indian Industry’s Institute of Quality (CII-IQ), the programme provided participants with exposure to manufacturing and technology practices followed by companies operating in Germany.
According to information released by CII-IQ during and after the mission, the delegation examined applications of robotics, Industrial Artificial Intelligence, digital twins, electrification, connected manufacturing and data-driven production systems. The programme also covered sustainability, capability development and operational excellence.
Mission begins with Wipro PARI visit
The mission began on August 3, 2026, with a visit to Wipro PARI, where the delegation was introduced to industrial automation and robotics applications.
Wipro PARI provides turnkey automation systems across assembly, machining, material handling and logistics. The company is part of Wipro Infrastructure Engineering and has operations in Germany through entities including Wipro PARI GmbH and Wipro Hochrainer GmbH.
According to Wipro PARI’s official corporate information, the group acquired Germany-based Hochrainer GmbH in 2022 as part of the expansion of its international industrial-automation business. Wipro Hochrainer is based in Freilassing, Bavaria.
The visit gave participating manufacturers an opportunity to study how automation and robotics are incorporated into production and material-handling processes.
Siemens visit highlights Industrial AI and digital twins
On August 4, 2026, the delegation visited THE IMPULSE, Siemens’ experience centre for industrial automation and digital transformation in Amberg, Bavaria.
The centre demonstrates connected manufacturing technologies, industrial AI, digital twins, intelligent automation and data-based production systems. Its exhibits and industrial use cases show how information from products, production processes and factory operations can be integrated across a digital manufacturing environment.
CII-IQ said the delegation examined how these systems are being used to improve productivity, production flexibility and operational performance. The programme included demonstrations of the relationship between virtual models and physical manufacturing processes, as well as the use of industrial data for monitoring and decision-making.
Siemens describes THE IMPULSE as a platform for demonstrating how technologies such as connected manufacturing and industrial AI can be applied in factory environments.
ABB visit covers automation and electrification
On the final day of the programme, August 7, 2026, the delegation visited ABB as part of its manufacturing benchmarking activities.
The interaction focused on the convergence of automation, digitalisation and electrification. Delegates examined applications involving integrated technologies, intelligent automation and data-supported decision-making.
ABB operates across electrification, motion and automation technologies. The company says its engineering and digital systems are designed to help industrial users improve productivity, energy efficiency and resource use.
CII-IQ said the visit examined how these technologies are being incorporated into operational performance and sustainability programmes.
Frankfurt interaction adds India–Germany business perspective
The mission concluded on August 7, 2026, with an interaction at the Consulate General of India in Frankfurt. CII-IQ published details of the concluding engagement on August 8, 2026.
The meeting moved the discussion beyond individual factory technologies to the wider environment for industrial partnerships, trade and business engagement between India and Germany.
According to CII-IQ, the interaction connected the delegation’s manufacturing-related observations with opportunities for broader bilateral industrial cooperation. Participants discussed the role of international engagement in linking Indian companies with German manufacturing, technology and institutional networks.
The Consulate General of India in Frankfurt covers the German states of Hesse, North Rhine-Westphalia, Rhineland-Palatinate and Saarland. Its work includes facilitating commercial engagement and promoting economic relations between India and Germany.
Focus on manufacturing exposure and benchmarking
Between August 3 and August 7, 2026, the delegation studied different aspects of automation, robotics, industrial AI, digital transformation, electrification, sustainability and workforce capability.
The mission was an industry benchmarking and knowledge-exchange programme rather than the announcement of a new bilateral agreement. Its stated focus was to expose Indian manufacturing leaders to technologies and operating practices being demonstrated or deployed within Germany’s industrial ecosystem.
The programme added an industry-led component to India–Germany cooperation in advanced manufacturing, bringing Indian executives into direct engagement with companies and institutions working across automation, engineering and digital production.
