A German business delegation has held separate engagements in Telangana and Tamil Nadu, bringing semiconductor manufacturing, advanced engineering, logistics and deeper cooperation between small and medium-sized enterprises into focus.
The delegation from the German Indian Business Alliance (GIBA), led by Kelsterbach Mayor Manfred Ockel, met Telangana IT and Industries Minister Duddilla Sridhar Babu at the State Secretariat in Hyderabad on August 31, 2026.
During the meeting, Minister Sridhar Babu invited German companies to explore investment opportunities in semiconductor manufacturing as Telangana seeks to expand its presence in the sector.
The discussions also covered life sciences, aerospace and defence, electronics, precision engineering, automobiles, automation and advanced manufacturing. The Minister said Telangana could support prospective investors through faster approvals, infrastructure, investment incentives and workforce development.
Minister Sridhar Babu also sought GIBA’s cooperation in developing a Telangana–Germany logistics corridor to facilitate the movement of goods and improve access to German and wider European markets for exporters from the state.
MSME cooperation in focus in Chennai
Earlier, on August 28, 2026, the delegation participated in the second Indo-German MSME Conclave in Chennai. The event was organised by GIBA and the Southern India Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SICCI).
The conclave examined opportunities for German investment, technology transfer and industrial cooperation with Indian micro, small and medium enterprises. Discussions focused on enabling local companies to participate in German and European supply chains as component suppliers, engineering partners and contract manufacturers.
German Consul General in Chennai Michael Hasper and MEPZ Special Economic Zone Zonal Development Commissioner Alex Paul Menon were among the officials associated with the discussions. Participants highlighted the scope for expanding India–Germany commercial ties beyond conventional trade through investment, manufacturing, research and longer-term industrial partnerships.
The engagements reflect a wider India–Germany MSME connection, bringing together India’s manufacturing base and growing enterprises with Germany’s technology-driven Mittelstand. Closer state-level partnerships could support investment, technology exchange and the integration of Indian MSMEs into German and European supply chains.
