German automotive technology company AUMOVIO’s Indian arm has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with National Automotive Test Tracks (NATRAX) to establish a dedicated vehicle-testing facility in Pithampur, Madhya Pradesh.
Announced on September 3, 2026, the partnership aims to expand AUMOVIO India’s domestic testing and validation capacity amid growing vehicle-development programmes and increasing demand for braking and safety technologies.
Facility to support ABS, ESC and ADAS testing
The proposed office-cum-workshop facility will support brake-system tuning and vehicle testing for technologies such as anti-lock braking systems, electronic stability control and advanced driver-assistance systems.
Testing will include ADAS functions such as automatic emergency braking and adaptive cruise control across both internal-combustion-engine and electric vehicle platforms.
The workshop is expected to accommodate up to 15 vehicles. It will also include areas for installing and preparing new technologies, storage and office space for engineering teams, along with electric vehicle charging infrastructure.
The facility is expected to become operational by the fourth quarter of 2027.
Expanding local engineering capabilities
AUMOVIO currently conducts vehicle testing at customer-operated tracks in India and at its testing facilities in other countries. Establishing a permanent presence at NATRAX is expected to reduce dependence on overseas facilities and allow engineering teams to modify vehicles and testing configurations more quickly.
Prashanth Doreswamy, CEO and President of AUMOVIO India, said the facility would help the company expand its testing capacity and respond more efficiently to changing vehicle-performance requirements. He added that the investment formed part of the company’s effort to support Indian projects from within the country.
NATRAX, a unit of the National Automotive Board, operates a comprehensive automotive proving ground at Pithampur. Its testing infrastructure supports vehicle dynamics, braking, durability, emissions and high-speed performance assessments.
India–Germany automotive technology link
Headquartered in Frankfurt, AUMOVIO began operating as an independent German automotive technology company in 2025 following the spin-off of Continental’s Automotive division. Its portfolio includes braking systems, vehicle electronics, sensors, software and technologies for connected and automated mobility.
The NATRAX partnership adds to the presence of German automotive engineering companies in India’s expanding mobility ecosystem. By locating more testing and validation work in the country, the initiative could support shorter development cycles and the adaptation of advanced vehicle-safety systems to Indian operating conditions.
