Indian technology services company Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) has entered into a long-term strategic partnership with Germany’s Aareal Bank to modernise the bank’s technology infrastructure through an AI-powered, cloud-first operating model.
The partnership, announced on September 15, 2026, forms part of Aareal Bank’s ongoing technology-modernisation programme and its broader “Aareal Ambition” strategy.
Headquartered in Wiesbaden, Aareal Bank is an international property-finance specialist. Under the agreement, TCS will become an integral part of the bank’s IT ecosystem and support its transition towards a more diversified and scalable technology platform.
Cloud, cybersecurity and infrastructure in focus
TCS will provide end-to-end support across Aareal Bank’s technology infrastructure, including:
- data-centre operations;
- cloud platforms;
- workplace services;
- cybersecurity; and
- infrastructure-management services.
The Indian company will also host and operate the bank’s data-centre environment, providing the technological foundation for its cloud-first transformation programme.
TCS plans to use its AI-led delivery model, intelligent-automation capabilities and financial-services expertise to simplify technology operations, enhance security and improve service quality.
The companies said the transformation would help create a more resilient and scalable technology environment, allowing Aareal Bank to respond more quickly to changing business requirements and evolving regulatory demands.
Supporting Aareal Bank’s transformation strategy
Dr Christian Ricken, CEO of Aareal Bank, said a modern, resilient and efficient technology platform was essential to implementing the bank’s business strategy.
He said the partnership would strengthen Aareal Bank’s technology capabilities and establish the foundation for the next phase of its transformation, supported by TCS’s experience in financial and cloud services.
K Krithivasan, CEO and Managing Director of TCS, said AI-powered operations were becoming an important enabler for financial institutions seeking greater resilience, security and agility.
He added that the partnership would focus on developing a modern and secure technology environment capable of supporting innovation, operational efficiency and sustainable growth.
TCS and Aareal Bank also intend to explore further opportunities in AI-driven operations, intelligent cybersecurity and next-generation technology services.
India–Germany technology cooperation
The agreement adds to the expanding role of Indian technology companies in Germany’s digital-transformation landscape, particularly in highly regulated sectors such as banking and financial services.
For TCS, the partnership strengthens its presence in the German financial-services market while placing Indian expertise in artificial intelligence, cloud technology and cybersecurity at the centre of Aareal Bank’s long-term modernisation plans.
The companies have not disclosed the financial value or exact duration of the agreement.
