DHL IT Services, the technology organisation of Germany’s DHL Group, announced a new 104,000-square-foot office at One Radial in Chennai on 29 October 2026. It will operate alongside the company’s existing office in the city.

The new premises can accommodate up to 800 employees. This is an office-capacity figure; the announcement does not indicate the creation of 800 new jobs.

India workforce grows

According to the company, DHL IT Services employs around 1,600 people in India, compared with approximately 500 in 2020. Its offices are spread across Chennai, Hyderabad, Mumbai, Bengaluru and Indore.

Chennai remains its largest location in India, with approximately 1,000 employees across the city. Indian teams work on artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, cloud computing, automation, analytics and enterprise platforms used in DHL’s global logistics operations.

Supriya Rao Patwardhan, Executive Vice President and Global Head of IT Services, DHL Group, said the additional Chennai office would support the group’s technology requirements, including work in AI, cybersecurity and cloud services.

The company said maintaining two offices in Chennai would also support business continuity and flexible working arrangements.

Recruitment and training

DHL IT Services India recruited more than 70 graduates from 11 partner universities in 2026. The company also runs a training academy in Indore, its newest Indian location.

The India–Germany business connection

The development adds to the technology-services dimension of India–Germany business relations. For the German logistics group, India is a base for teams that develop and maintain systems used across its international operations.

The significance lies in that operational role: the growth of DHL’s Indian IT workforce shows how the bilateral business relationship extends beyond trade in goods to software, data and technology services supporting German companies globally.
