SCHOTT Poonawalla Private Limited has been renamed SCHOTT Pharma India Private Limited, effective 28 October 2026, aligning the Indian company’s identity with Germany’s SCHOTT Pharma.

The company said the change does not affect its ownership, management, employees, business strategy or operations. Existing products, services and customer commitments also remain unchanged.

The business manufactures containers and delivery products for injectable medicines, including vials, ampoules, cartridges and prefillable syringes. Its customers include pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies, as well as contract development and manufacturing organisations.

Manufacturing and capacity expansion

According to the company, its Indian business produces more than three billion pharmaceutical containers annually. It is also expanding manufacturing capacity for prefillable syringes and cartridges to serve applications including biologics, biosimilars and GLP-1-based treatments. The name-change announcement did not specify a fresh investment amount or a completion timetable for these expansions.

Roy Joseph, Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of SCHOTT Pharma India, said the business would focus on developing its capabilities and working with pharmaceutical and biotechnology customers.

Dr Christian Mias, Chief Executive Officer of SCHOTT Pharma AG & Co. KGaA, described the renaming as confirmation of the group’s continued engagement with India. “The name change from SCHOTT Poonawalla to SCHOTT Pharma India reinforces our strategic partnership,” he said.

India–Germany pharmaceutical business links

The business has previously undergone changes in its investor composition. In May 2025, SCHOTT Pharma announced an agreement under which TPG would acquire a 35% stake from Serum Institute of India. That announcement provided for SCHOTT Pharma to retain its 50% holding, with Serum Institute retaining a minority stake. The latest renaming announcement reports no further ownership change.

For India–Germany business ties, the company represents a manufacturing link in the pharmaceutical supply chain: German drug-containment and delivery technology connected with production in India. The products involved support the storage and administration of injectable medicines, placing this partnership in the manufacturing infrastructure behind pharmaceutical supply.
