Andhra Pradesh is stepping up its manufacturing ambitions through two major Indo-German partnerships aimed at strengthening industrial skilling, supporting MSMEs, and attracting advanced manufacturing investments. The agreements—signed in Chennai and in the presence of senior state officials—signal a renewed push to integrate global technical standards with local industry needs.

MoU to Set Up Advanced Skill Development Centre at MEPZ

A tripartite Memorandum of Understanding was signed between Gedee Technical Training Institute (GTTI), the Madras Export Processing Zone (MEPZ), and a Section 8 company representing members of the Indo-German Chamber of Commerce (IGCC) and the German Business Group, Chennai.

Under this agreement, a dedicated Skill Development Centre will be established at MEPZ, Tambaram. MEPZ has allocated a 30,000 sq. ft. facility equipped with machining workshops, CNC labs, simulation units, and training bays.

Phase-Wise Skill Training Plan

  • Phase 1 will roll out short-term, industry-aligned courses in CNC machining, CNC lathe and milling operations, CNC programming, ANSYS simulation, and Mastercam-based CAM training.
  • Phase 2 will expand into long-term, domain-intensive programmes focused on high-precision manufacturing, addressing global workforce shortages in advanced engineering roles.

Officials said the centre aims to produce specialists who can meet the growing demand for skilled talent in India’s expanding manufacturing ecosystem.

IGCC, Andhra Pradesh MSME Development Corporation Sign LoI

The second agreement involved the exchange of a Letter of Intent between IGCC and the Andhra Pradesh MSME Development Corporation. The documents were exchanged in the presence of Andhra Pradesh MSME Minister Kondapalli Srinivas.

The partnership is designed to:

  • Strengthen the MSME sector in Andhra Pradesh
  • Support the entry and expansion of German manufacturers and traders
  • Introduce German curriculum-based technical training

Facilitate new training centres across the state to enhance industrial capabilities

The collaboration is expected to play a crucial role in upgrading skills, transferring technology, and aligning local MSMEs with global supply chains.

Focus on Building a Strong SME Ecosystem

Minister Srinivas underlined the state’s strategy to create a robust industrial base for small and medium units.

He said the government is building “an enabling ecosystem for SME growth,” adding that Andhra Pradesh is developing over 175 MSME parks, including specialised clusters dedicated to sectors such as medical devices. He noted that the state aims to integrate smaller units with larger manufacturers to drive collective growth.

IGCC: Indo-German Industrial Ties on the Rise

Ranjit Pratap, Chairman of IGCC’s Southern Region Council, said Indo-German trade and manufacturing are expanding steadily. He stressed that the chamber is working to strengthen cooperation and support skill development.

He noted that the new partnerships reflect a shared commitment to “boost industrial capacity and nurture skilled talent that will power India’s future growth trajectory.”

State Pushes for Skilling, High-Tech Manufacturing

The Andhra Pradesh government is scaling up partnerships with German and European companies to bolster sector-specific industrial parks. With major investments planned in aerospace, medical equipment, and precision manufacturing, the state aims to bring world-class training and technology to its workforce.

Officials said Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu is driving the creation of a comprehensive MSME ecosystem where manufacturing excellence and skilled manpower go hand in hand.
