Germany regards its partnership with India as pivotal to advancing a future grounded in shared democratic values and human dignity, stated Achim Burkart, Consul General of the Federal Republic of Germany.
Speaking at a ceremony organized by Goethe-Zentrum at the Hyatt Regency in Thiruvananthapuram on Sunday, November 10, Burkart underscored the importance of cooperation between the two nations in a rapidly changing world.
Celebrating German Unity Day and a Historic Milestone
The event, marking Germany’s Day of Unity and the 35th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall, saw attendance from notable figures, including German Honorary Consul Syed Ibrahim and Technopark founder and CEO G Vijayaraghavan.
Burkart highlighted Germany’s constitutional commitment to the principle that “Human dignity is inviolable,” a declaration he said resonates even more in today’s turbulent global landscape.
Advocating for Collaborative Partnerships Amid Global Challenges
Consul General Burkart emphasized India’s growing influence on the international stage and advocated for collaborative partnerships that can drive impactful change. “Countries may not align on every issue, but meaningful partnerships can be forged that will shape a better future,” he remarked, emphasizing the strength of India-Germany relations.
A Vision for a Safer, Dignified, and Free World
Reflecting on shared aspirations across nations, Burkart observed, “What unites many countries in this world is the fact that the vast majority wants only one thing – that their children can live in safety, dignity, and freedom.”
He encouraged ongoing cooperation between Germany and India, expressing optimism that their democratic values could help address humanity’s pressing challenges.
