German precision engineering company INDEX Group has strengthened its presence in India with the inauguration of a new Technology Centre and branch office in Bengaluru’s Aerospace Park, marking a significant step in its long-term India strategy.

The facility is designed to enhance customer engagement, technical support, and application engineering services for Indian manufacturers across sectors such as aerospace, automotive, electronics, hydraulics and general engineering.

Strengthening Local Presence

INDEX Group has been active in India for over two decades through sales and service operations. The establishment of INDEX Machine Tools India Pvt Ltd in recent years formalised its direct presence in the country. The new Bengaluru Technology Centre builds on that foundation, creating a dedicated hub for customer demonstrations, application development and service support.

Located near Kempegowda International Airport in the Hi-Tech Defence and Aerospace Park, the centre consolidates sales, applications engineering, after-sales service and administrative functions under one roof.

Demonstration and Application Capabilities

The Bengaluru facility includes a fully equipped showroom and demonstration area featuring CNC turning machines from the INDEX and TRAUB product lines. Customers can conduct test machining of components, review technical drawings with engineering teams, and evaluate production solutions tailored to specific manufacturing requirements.

The centre is also expected to host technical workshops, customer training programmes and industry events, providing a platform for deeper engagement with India’s growing manufacturing ecosystem.

Focus on Advanced Manufacturing Solutions

INDEX Group’s portfolio includes multi-spindle automatic lathes, universal turning machines, sliding-headstock automatic lathes, turn-mill centres and production turning machines. These systems are used for high-precision machining applications across industries that demand automation, accuracy and productivity optimisation.

The expansion comes at a time when India is positioning itself as a major global manufacturing hub, particularly in high-precision engineering and aerospace production. International equipment manufacturers have increasingly been expanding local support infrastructure to align with India’s industrial growth ambitions.

India as a Strategic Market

The opening of the Technology Centre signals INDEX Group’s continued confidence in India as a strategic market. By strengthening its on-ground technical capabilities, the company aims to provide faster service response, closer collaboration with customers, and enhanced application support tailored to local industry needs.

The move reflects broader trends in Indo-German industrial cooperation, particularly in advanced manufacturing and Industry 4.0 technologies.
