Germany has reaffirmed its role as a crucial partner in India’s clean energy transition, spotlighting Indo-German cooperation in energy storage, green hydrogen, and electric mobility at the India Energy Storage Week (IESW) 2025.
Held from July 8-10 at Yashobhoomi, IICC, New Delhi, the event featured a prominent German Pavilion, jointly organized by the Indo-German Chamber of Commerce (IGCC) and the Indo-German Energy Forum Support Office (IGEF-SO).
A Symbol of Bilateral Commitment
The German Pavilion was formally inaugurated by Gottfried von Gemmingen, Head of Division for Economic Cooperation & Development at the German Embassy in New Delhi, alongside senior industry leaders. Von Gemmingen underscored that the pavilion symbolized the “shared resolve of Germany and India to lead the global clean energy revolution through innovation and collaboration.”
The presence of German technology pioneers reflected the strong Indo-German partnership driving renewable solutions and sustainable technologies.
Industry Heavyweights on Display
The German Pavilion served as a dynamic showcase of technological expertise, featuring companies such as Ador Digatron Pvt. Ltd, BASF Battery Materials, FOGTEC® Fire Protection, Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft, TLT-Turbo GmbH, KRAFTBLOCK, Infineon Technologies, and TÜV SÜD, among others.
These firms demonstrated cutting-edge solutions spanning advanced battery materials, energy storage systems, safety technologies, and green hydrogen applications, highlighting Germany’s capabilities and willingness to partner with India in achieving ambitious climate targets.
A Hub for Networking and Partnerships
Beyond the exhibits, the pavilion became a vibrant B2B hub, facilitating dialogue between Indian and German stakeholders. The focus was on forging partnerships, sharing knowledge, and exploring investment opportunities critical to scaling up clean energy technologies in India.
“Events like IESW not only display technology but connect people who can make energy transition a reality,” noted Tobias Winter of IGEF-SO, emphasizing that strong Indo-German ties are essential for addressing global energy challenges.
Strategic Collaborations Take Center Stage
IESW 2025 underscored the deepening bilateral collaboration across key sectors:
Green Hydrogen: The Indo-German Green Hydrogen Task Force, now renamed Indo-German Energy Forum Subgroup V on Green Hydrogen, continues to steer joint efforts toward developing a sustainable hydrogen economy.
Energy Storage Initiatives: The “StoREin” project, supported by GIZ and the Internationale Klimaschutzinitiative (IKI), aims to strengthen India’s energy storage ecosystem, making storage solutions commercially viable and scalable.
Policy Developments: Germany’s recent Import Strategy for Hydrogen and Hydrogen Derivatives and evolving regulations on battery grid charges are shaping future industry landscapes.
Driving India’s Clean Energy Future
With over 19th vision summits, new manufacturing announcements like Voltra Energy’s planned 2 GWh facility in India, and multiple industry reports launched by IESA, the India-Germany partnership is moving beyond dialogue into action.
“Germany’s commitment to supporting India’s energy transition remains steadfast,” said Eva Meschede from Germany Trade & Invest. “By working together, we’re helping build solutions that are sustainable and economically viable.”
