Germany is stepping up its collaboration with India to promote sustainable and efficient farming practices, Dr. Philipp Ackermann, the Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to India and Bhutan, said during his visit to Andhra Pradesh on Monday, October 7, 2025.
Germany’s Focus on Sustainable Farming
Speaking to ANI in Vijayawada, Ambassador Ackermann said agriculture remains a key pillar of Indo–German cooperation. “Germany is active here, working with the Government of India to make farming more efficient and sustainable,” he stated. He added that joint programmes are already underway to encourage farmers to shift toward natural and eco-friendly cultivation practices.
“This is a big project we are doing together with the Indian government, and as far as I know, it has been very successful so far,” Dr. Ackermann noted. The Ambassador’s remarks reflect Germany’s continued emphasis on sustainable development partnerships with India, including initiatives led by the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ) to strengthen agricultural value chains and climate resilience.
Meeting with Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu
During his visit, Dr. Ackermann met Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu in Vijayawada, where both sides discussed avenues for collaboration in agriculture, technology, infrastructure, and sustainability. “I wanted to come to Andhra to meet the local government because this is a very important state — a powerhouse of India,” the envoy said, describing Andhra Pradesh as a state “full of dynamics, ideas, and great plans.”
The German Ambassador also visited Kadapa district to review German-supported development projects and expressed plans to travel to Visakhapatnam soon. “It’s a state to discover,” he remarked, adding that his visit had been important for understanding Andhra’s economic priorities.
Shared Vision for Green Growth
In a post on X (formerly Twitter) Dr. Ackermann wrote: “Great discussion with AP CM Naidu today. Impressed by the state’s ambitious plans on technology, sustainability, infrastructure, and agriculture — and where Germany can play a role!”
The visit highlights Germany’s growing interest in partnering with Indian states to advance green growth, sustainable agriculture, and technological innovation, aligning with the broader Indo–German framework for climate action and rural development.
