In a major boost to Indo-German technology collaboration, German IT services company adesso SE and analytics engine specialist Exasol have launched a new AI-powered Tech Hub in Chennai, India. The centre aims to accelerate next-generation analytics solutions by combining German expertise in data engineering with India’s deep technology talent.
Strategic Collaboration for Advanced Analytics
The Exasol Tech Hub, operated by adesso India, will drive innovation in data analytics, artificial intelligence, and cloud-native solutions. The hub marks an expansion of Exasol’s core development capabilities and will focus on integrating advanced AI functions into its high-performance analytics engine.
According to Exasol CEO Jörg Tewes, the initiative underscores the company’s “commitment to innovation and excellence.” He said the Chennai hub will help the company “strengthen product development and deliver faster, more efficient analytics to clients worldwide.”
adesso SE CEO Mark Lohweber described the collaboration as “a global innovation partnership” that merges Exasol’s technology strengths with adesso’s software engineering expertise. He added that the initiative is “not merely an expansion but a foundation for global-scale analytics innovation.”
Focus Areas: AI-Native Features and Cloud Scalability
The Chennai Tech Hub will focus on enhancing Exasol’s analytics engine through:
- AI-native capabilities – developing new data types and functions, such as vector and semantic search for retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), and improving SQL usability for complex data handling.
- Cloud-native architecture – introducing Kubernetes and Terraform support for greater scalability, cost efficiency, and multi-platform deployment.
- Ecosystem integration – ensuring compatibility with leading modern data tools like dbt Cloud, Fivetran, Airbyte, Dagster, and Airflow to support end-to-end analytics workflows.
These innovations are expected to help enterprises achieve faster insights, reduce operational costs, and enable flexible deployment across cloud and on-premise environments.
Chennai as a Global Engineering Base
Chennai was chosen for its strong IT infrastructure and deep pool of skilled software engineers. The city’s growing ecosystem of global capability centres (GCCs) has made it a preferred destination for advanced analytics and AI research.
By situating its tech hub in India, Exasol and adesso aim to leverage the country’s engineering talent and innovation ecosystem to serve global clients. The companies said the initiative will “lay the foundation for sustained global expansion” and create high-value technology jobs in India.
Strengthening India–Germany Technology Relations
The launch of the Chennai Tech Hub represents another milestone in the expanding India–Germany technology partnership. Germany’s adesso and Exasol join a growing list of German firms investing in India’s innovation ecosystem, aligning with the broader Indo-German commitment to digital transformation and sustainable growth.
Industry experts view the hub as a model for future collaborations between European technology leaders and Indian development centres, particularly in emerging areas such as AI, analytics, and data infrastructure.
With the new Tech Hub now operational, Exasol and adesso plan to advance the modernization of the Exasol Analytics Engine, embedding AI more deeply across the analytics lifecycle. The companies expect the collaboration to deliver faster, smarter, and more scalable data solutions for global enterprises.
