In a significant move to deepen its engagement with India, Germany’s Hof University of Applied Sciences has inaugurated its India Representation Office in Bengaluru on May 27. The new office, located on MG Road, is expected to serve as a central hub for Indian students, academic institutions, and alumni seeking to collaborate with the German university.
Strengthening Academic and Cultural Partnerships
The India office marks a milestone in Hof University’s longstanding relationship with India. The university currently collaborates with 20 Indian institutions and boasts Indian students as its largest group of international enrollees.
“This office is a reflection of our growing commitment to fostering academic and cultural partnerships with India,” said Prof. Jürgen Lehmann, President of Hof University. He noted that the Bengaluru office would help improve student outreach, strengthen alumni engagement, and facilitate new institutional collaborations.
A Local Gateway for Students and Partners
Functioning as a local contact point, the India office will provide support to prospective students interested in studying at Hof, act as a liaison for Indian academic partners, and maintain ties with its expanding alumni network across the country.
University officials said the move aims to provide better access to resources and information for students looking to pursue higher education in Germany, especially in areas such as engineering, business, and applied sciences.
Partnership in DeepTech and Innovation
The launch coincided with the inaugural DeepTech and Innovation Forum 2025, where Hof University was a key partner. The event brought together leaders from the deep technology sector to explore emerging trends and collaborative opportunities.
During the forum, Hof University signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Bhopal-based startup Swaayatt Robots Pvt Ltd, focusing on autonomous mobility technologies. The agreement outlines plans for joint research and innovation in the development of self-driving car systems.
“This collaboration reflects the importance of cross-border innovation, especially in fields like autonomous systems and AI-driven mobility,” said Prof. Lehmann, who attended the forum.
A Growing Indo-German Education Bridge
With this initiative, Hof University becomes the latest in a series of German institutions expanding their footprint in India, underscoring a growing trend in Indo-German academic cooperation. The new office is expected to play a pivotal role in shaping future exchanges and research partnerships between the two countries.
