German industrial giant TRUMPF has inaugurated its first manufacturing plant in India, marking a significant step in its long-term commitment to support the country’s growing manufacturing sector. The facility, located in Nighoje, Pune, will begin operations with the production of its TruBend 1000 series bending machines.
First India Plant Signals Stronger Local Presence
TRUMPF, a global leader in machine tools and laser technology, officially opened its Pune facility on Thursday, underscoring India’s emerging role as a global manufacturing hub.
“This new manufacturing unit in Pune is an investment in India’s future as a global manufacturing hub,” said Stephan Mayer, CEO Machine Tools and Member of the Management Board, TRUMPF Germany.
The plant’s operations are expected to strengthen TRUMPF’s ability to meet domestic demand and streamline its supply chain within the region.
Localisation Plans and Future Production
In its official release, TRUMPF announced plans to begin local production of the TruLaser 1000 series by 2025. Once fully operational, the facility will handle assembly, testing, quality assurance, and logistics—contributing to faster delivery cycles and tailored solutions for Indian industry needs.
“This is a proud moment for our entire India team,” said Pradeep Patil, Managing Director of TRUMPF India. “By 2025, all functions at the new plant will be fully operational, enabling us to serve the Indian market more effectively as a true local manufacturing partner.”
€5 Million Investment to Bolster Indian Manufacturing
The company has already invested over €5 million in India as part of its strategic vision to support the country’s industrial growth. Established in 1923 in Germany, TRUMPF has grown into a global technology leader in machine tools, laser systems, and digital manufacturing.
TRUMPF India, which started operations in 2006, has progressively expanded its footprint, and the new Pune facility marks a milestone in its journey toward deeper localisation and industry collaboration.
