Germany emphasized the growing trade relationship with India while also addressing concerns over a shortage of skilled labor in its industries during the Global Investors Summit (GIS) 2025. In a country session dedicated to Germany, officials and business leaders discussed strategies to enhance trade relations with Madhya Pradesh, recognizing the state’s industrial potential.
Germany Sees Madhya Pradesh as a Key Trade Partner
The session featured Director General of Indo-German Commerce Stefan, industrialist Dr. Chana, and Nitesh Chaudhary, alongside Madhya Pradesh Chief Secretary Anurag Jain. Stefan highlighted Germany’s robust trade relationship with India and underlined the opportunities for investment in Madhya Pradesh’s mineral resources, green energy, and connectivity.
Policy Reforms Ease Business Setup in Madhya Pradesh
Chief Secretary Anurag Jain showcased the state’s investor-friendly policies, emphasizing swift business registration processes. “In Madhya Pradesh, a company can be registered in just 24 hours, but in Germany, it takes 21 days. This shows that in the state ample opportunities are present,” he stated.
Jain also pointed out that earlier, setting up a resort required 30 permissions, whereas now, only 10 are needed. “One more important factor of the state is the easy availability of bureaucrats. This helps industrialists establish industry in the state,” he added.
German Business Leaders Discuss Industrial Growth and Connectivity
Germany’s participation in GIS 2025 extended to discussions on the Indo-German Innovation Corridor, focusing on expanding business partnerships. Industrialist Dr. Chana reflected on Madhya Pradesh’s industrial growth over the past 15 years, particularly noting the positive impact of river-linking initiatives.
Nitesh Chaudhary, another prominent industrialist, highlighted the state’s central location and strong infrastructure, making it an attractive hub for investment.
Germany’s Commitment to Social Development and Policy Support
Beyond trade and industrial growth, Indo-German cooperation also includes social development initiatives. Mukesh Hajela, E-Meritus NICT GIIC Chairman, spoke about Germany’s contributions to women’s empowerment, urban planning, and social projects in India. Seema Bhardwaj facilitated discussions on Madhya Pradesh’s policy framework, administrative support, and skilled workforce availability.
Chief Secretary Anurag Jain further assured German investors of continued policy support and encouraged them to review the state’s current industrial guidelines. With Germany actively exploring new ventures in Madhya Pradesh, the summit marked a significant step in strengthening Indo-German economic ties.
