India put up a strong display of its agri-food innovation and culinary diversity at ANUGA 2025, one of the world’s largest food and beverage trade fairs, held from October 4 to 8, 2025, in Cologne, Germany. The Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA) organised India’s participation, featuring 40 leading exporters under the India Pavilion, which drew considerable attention from international buyers, trade professionals, and retailers.

High-Level Inauguration Showcases India’s Commitment to Global Food Trade

The India Pavilion was formally inaugurated by Shri Avinash Joshi, Secretary, Ministry of Food Processing Industries (MoFPI), along with Shri D. Praveen, Joint Secretary, MoFPI, and Ms. Shuchita Kishore, Consul General of India in Frankfurt. The event was also attended by Shri Arunava Sen Gupta, Deputy Secretary, MoFPI, and Mr. Bhupendra Singh, Counsellor (Commerce and Political), Embassy of India, Berlin.

Speaking at the inauguration, officials highlighted India’s growing role in the global agri-food market and the government’s focus on promoting value-added exports. They praised the participation of Indian MSMEs and food exporters, whose innovation and diversity represented the country’s emerging leadership in sustainable food processing.

Showcasing India’s Diverse Agri-Food Portfolio

The Pavilion presented a vibrant and culturally inspired display of India’s export-ready products — from cereals, pulses, millets, groundnuts, and value-added peanut products, to RTE and RTC foods, organic rice, herbs, spices, superfoods, dehydrated onion and garlic, flours, dry fruits, and mango pulp.

The booth attracted a strong international footfall, with buyers, e-commerce suppliers, logistics companies, and retail chains exploring sourcing partnerships with Indian firms.

Industry bodies like ASSOCHAM played a key facilitation role in enabling MSME participation, helping create export linkages and enhance India’s presence in the global food ecosystem.

Cultural and Culinary Experiences Enrich the India Pavilion

Beyond trade, the India Pavilion offered visitors an immersive cultural experience. Live food sampling sessions featuring veg and non-veg biryani, makhni paneer, and samosa chaat showcased India’s culinary heritage, while a henna art corner added a colourful cultural dimension that resonated with global visitors.

Delegates commended APEDA’s efforts for curating a holistic representation of India’s food sector — blending commerce, culture, and creativity to reinforce India’s image as a trusted global food partner.

India’s Expanding Global Food Footprint

With its growing exports of agricultural and processed food products, India continues to strengthen its position as a key player in the international food supply chain. The country’s focus on value addition, sustainability, and market diversification aligns with global consumer trends toward healthy, traceable, and environmentally responsible products.

ANUGA 2025 reaffirmed India’s commitment to deepening partnerships in the agri-food trade, particularly with Germany and the wider European market, where demand for authentic and sustainable Indian products continues to grow.
