In a significant boost to Indo-German cooperation in skilled workforce development, IndiaWorks Energy GmbH has been officially established in Freiburg to support Germany’s fast-evolving green energy transition. The new venture focuses on training and deploying skilled professionals in HVAC, plumbing, and renewable energy technologies — sectors that are critical to achieving Germany’s climate goals.

Freiburg, renowned as a European hub for clean-tech innovation and AI-driven startups, provides the ideal base for the company’s operations.

A Cross-Continental Collaboration for Skilled Workforce Mobility

IndiaWorks Energy GmbH is a joint initiative co-founded by Dr. Handirk von Ungern-Sternberg and Aditi Banerjee, combining German craftsmanship standards with India’s deep technical talent pool. The company aims to build an ethical and scalable model for international workforce mobility — one that prioritizes fair recruitment and long-term employability.

Although close to 200,000 Indian students and professionals move to Germany each year, the HVAC and climate-technology sectors have so far seen limited participation. IndiaWorks Energy plans to close that gap by providing structured pathways for Indian technicians and trainees to work, learn, and contribute to Germany’s expanding green-energy ecosystem.

Founders with a Vision for Ethical Migration and Impact

Aditi Banerjee, Co-Founder and CEO of Magic Billion — a Government of India-recognized organization that has successfully placed thousands of Indian professionals across Europe and the United States — brings to the table deep expertise in ethical recruitment and global talent partnerships.

“Evolving from a mobility provider to an operations-driven company allows us to create impact on every front — opening doors for skilled Indian professionals, delivering efficiency for German clients, and contributing to a greener future,” said Aditi Banerjee, Co-Founder & CEO of Magic Billion and IndiaWorks Energy GmbH.

Her co-founder, Dr. Handirk von Ungern-Sternberg, who holds a PhD in Economics and previously served on the Executive Board of the Chamber of Crafts Freiburg, brings decades of experience connecting business, policy, and trade associations to foster sustainable labor ecosystems.

“We bring people and purpose together — integrating skilled workers through ethical migration, and combining Germany’s craftsmanship with India’s talent to accelerate a cleaner, more inclusive energy future,” noted Dr. von Ungern-Sternberg.

Strong Institutional Backing for a Shared Green Future

The initiative has received support from the Consul General of India in Munich, Shatrughna Sinha, who described it as “a new and promising chapter in Indo-German cooperation that will benefit both nations.”

For Indian youth, IndiaWorks Energy represents a gateway to global opportunities — offering advanced technical training, cultural integration, and placements in one of the world’s most progressive energy markets. The model also embraces circular migration, ensuring that skills and experience gained abroad return to strengthen India’s domestic technical ecosystem.

Expansion Plans and Alignment with National Missions

The company’s first operational branch in Freiburg is expected to open by mid-2026, followed by expansions to Stuttgart, Munich, Frankfurt, and Hamburg. By 2028, IndiaWorks Energy aims to be active across ten German cities, with plans to extend operations throughout the European Union.

The initiative directly aligns with the Government of India’s “Skill India” and International Mobility missions, reinforcing India’s growing stature as a trusted global talent partner while contributing to Germany’s sustainable, energy-efficient future.
