Strengthening Indo-German industrial ties, the Indian wing of German engineering leader EDAG, in partnership with the Indo-German Chamber of Commerce (IGCC), hosted the Smart Industry Summit 2025 in New Delhi. Held from June 4 to 5 at Roseate House, Aerocity, the event brought together key stakeholders from Germany and India to explore next-generation smart manufacturing, digital engineering, and cross-border industrial collaboration. The summit showcased how Germany’s technological expertise is being integrated with India’s rapidly growing digital manufacturing capabilities, marking a new chapter in bilateral industrial cooperation.
Indo-German Collaboration Takes Center Stage
Jointly organized by EDAG India and IGCC, with research insights from IMA, the two-day summit highlighted the evolving partnership between India and Germany in industrial engineering. It aimed to foster co-creation, innovation, and technology exchange in line with India’s Make in India vision and Germany’s Industry 4.0 roadmap.
Rainer Wittich, CEO of EDAG Production Solutions GmbH & Co. KG, underscored this collaboration, saying that India is a “key pillar” of EDAG’s global innovation roadmap. “The summit is a reflection of our commitment to co-engineering with Indian partners, contributing to a resilient and future-ready manufacturing ecosystem,” he noted.
Technology Showcase: From Digital Twins to the EDAG Metaverse
Keynotes by leaders from NVIDIA, SAP, and EKS InTec, along with EDAG’s technology showcases, illustrated how digital twins, intelligent automation, and software-defined engineering are driving a new era of smart manufacturing.
A major highlight was the EDAG Metaverse demonstration, where visitors interacted with real-time simulations of production environments—allowing for faster decision-making, risk minimization, and improved efficiency.
These technologies are now being jointly developed and deployed by Indo-German teams. “We don’t just outsource work to India—we innovate together,” said Arik Reiter, Vice President of Digital Smart Factory at EDAG. “My team in Germany works hand-in-hand with a parallel team in Delhi and Pune. This mirrored structure ensures both quality and innovation flow across borders.”
Preparing a Future-Ready Workforce Across Borders
A key focus of the summit was preparing the workforce for Industry 5.0. Sessions emphasized human-machine collaboration, advanced skillsets, and sustainability-driven engineering. Panelists highlighted the importance of transnational cooperation in building a future-ready workforce, especially as Germany faces talent shortages and India produces large numbers of STEM graduates.
Experts pointed to this synergy as a strategic advantage—India offers the scale and talent, while Germany brings deep engineering expertise and precision.
EDAG Strengthens Make in India Through Co-Engineering
EDAG reaffirmed its commitment to Make in India through the expansion of its operations and by investing in talent. The company’s acquisition of Indian firm CAXSOL was presented as a case study in successful Indo-German integration.
Shashwat Patel, Managing Director of CAXSOL, demonstrated how real-time collaboration across continents—between German and Indian teams—is enabling globally competitive product development.
Operating across 80 global locations, EDAG’s India operations are now a central part of its innovation pipeline. The summit reinforced that EDAG’s vision for India is not about cost efficiency alone but about creating value, building skills, and co-developing sustainable technologies.
The Smart Industry Summit 2025 was more than just a showcase of future technologies—it was a reflection of the strengthening Indo-German partnership in industrial innovation. As Germany looks east for skilled partners and India aspires to lead in smart manufacturing, their collaboration is setting a benchmark for global industrial transformation.
