Statcon Energiaa, a leading Indian manufacturer of mission-critical power electronics, has entered into an exclusive licence-and-supply agreement with Germany’s AEG Power Solutions (AEG PS) to develop high-efficiency rectifier systems for electrolyzers in megawatt-class green hydrogen production.

Technology Transfer for Hydrogen Efficiency

Under the agreement, Statcon Energiaa will produce rectifiers in India using AEG PS’s proven core components – including printed circuit board assemblies (PCBA), insulated gate bipolar transistors (IGBTs) and thyristors – adapting them to a wide range of MW-scale voltage and current specifications. The IGBT-based systems will deliver high efficiency, low harmonic distortion and support both PEM and alkaline electrolyzers, with designs optimised for India’s varied operating conditions.

The rectifiers will ensure high-quality AC input and low-ripple DC output, both vital for efficient hydrogen production. Statcon Energiaa will also provide complete lifecycle support, from manufacturing to after-sales service, for green hydrogen projects across the Indian subcontinent.

‘Make in India’ Meets German Engineering

Calling the collaboration a boost for India’s hydrogen ambitions, Manoj Pande, Managing Director of Statcon Energiaa, said combining AEG PS’s established designs with Indian manufacturing strength would help developers, EPCs and electrolyzer makers achieve gigawatt-scale efficiencies while anchoring the value chain in India.

For Statcon Energiaa, the alliance opens new market opportunities and strengthens its engineering capabilities. For AEG PS, it offers a strategic route to scale technology deployment through a trusted Indian partner and expand reach in one of Asia’s most promising hydrogen markets.

AEG PS Targets Growing Indian Hydrogen Sector

Jörg Liedloff, Vice-President – Energy Transition at AEG PS, called the agreement a milestone in advancing the global energy transition, highlighting the fusion of German rectifier technology with local expertise to enable scalable, sustainable hydrogen production in India.

Marc-André Micke, Global Sales Director – Energy Transition at AEG PS, described India as “one of the most dynamic energy markets in the world” and said the tie-up reflects the company’s commitment to innovation and growth in the green hydrogen sector.
