Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin’s visit to Germany has delivered a major boost to the state’s industrial ambitions, with investment commitments worth ₹7,020 crore and the potential to generate over 15,300 jobs. The announcements were made during the Tamil Nadu Investment Conclave held in Düsseldorf on Monday.
23 New MoUs at Investment Conclave
On September 2, the Tamil Nadu government signed 23 memorandums of understanding (MoUs) pledging fresh investments of ₹3,819 crore. These projects are expected to create 9,070 jobs across sectors including renewable energy, automotive components, power systems, and manufacturing.
Combined with three earlier agreements announced during the tour — ₹2,000 crore from Knorr-Bremse, ₹1,000 crore from Nordex Group, and ₹201 crore from ebm-papst — the Germany tally now stands at 26 MoUs worth ₹7,020 crore.
Expansions by Global Majors
Several German firms already operating in Tamil Nadu expanded their footprint, which officials described as “a clear endorsement of the state’s industrial ecosystem and stable policy environment.”
Vensys Energy announced a ₹1,068 crore wind components facility that will create over 5,200 jobs.
BASF’s environmental catalyst and metal solutions division will expand operations at Chengalpattu.
Bella Premier Happy Hygiene (Poland-based, with German linkages) committed ₹300 crore to expand its sanitary and medical products plant in Dindigul.
Herrenknecht, the global leader in tunnel boring machines, will enlarge its Chennai unit to serve metro rail and coastal road projects.
Witzenmann India, Puls (power supply systems), and MASH Energy (renewable fuels) also signed investment deals.
EV Push and BMW Dialogue
The conclave also created a platform for discussions with BMW Group executives. Chief Minister Stalin urged the German carmaker to strengthen its role in Tamil Nadu’s electric vehicle (EV) ecosystem. BMW acknowledged the state’s EV infrastructure as a competitive edge for future growth.
Workforce Development Pact
In a parallel initiative, Guidance Tamil Nadu signed an agreement with Next Mittelstand to introduce Germany’s dual vocational training model in the state. The programme will launch with 120 students and scale up to 20,000 within a decade, aimed at aligning Tamil Nadu’s workforce skills with global industry standards.
CM Stalin’s Remarks
Speaking at the conclave, Chief Minister Stalin said the fresh commitments underscored investor faith in Tamil Nadu’s “robust industrial base and progressive policies.” He highlighted that the state was determined to become India’s manufacturing and R&D hub, offering world-class infrastructure, renewable energy capacity, and skilled manpower.
