Vijayawada will host the BEE–Indo-German Energy Programme Partnership Summit on February 20 and 21, organized by the Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE) in collaboration with GIZ (German Agency for International Cooperation). The event aims to facilitate discussions on ongoing energy efficiency (EE) initiatives, with a key focus on empowering State Designated Agencies (SDAs) to enhance energy conservation efforts.
Andhra Pradesh Chief Secretary Invited for Inaugural Address Srikanth Nagulapalli, Additional Secretary of the Ministry of Power & Director General of BEE, has invited K. Vijayanand, Chief Secretary of Andhra Pradesh and Chairman of the State Energy Conservation Mission, to deliver the inaugural address at the summit. He is expected to share insights on energy efficiency programs and the role of state agencies in advancing conservation initiatives.
BEE’s Star Rated Appliances Report Released
Ahead of the summit, Mr. Vijayanand released a report on BEE’s Star Rated Appliances programme during a meeting with BEE Media Advisor (South India) A. Chandra Sekhar Reddy on Sunday. The report highlights the impact of energy-efficient appliances in reducing power consumption and promoting sustainability.
Government’s Push for Renewable Energy and Grid Stability
During the meeting, Mr. Vijayanand reaffirmed the State government’s commitment to strengthening the financial stability of power distribution companies (DISCOMs). He also stressed the importance of leveraging Central Government schemes like PM Surya Ghar and PM Kusum to accelerate the adoption of renewable energy (RE).
While commending BEE’s efforts in implementing energy efficiency programs, he suggested that the Central Government double Andhra Pradesh’s battery storage capacity from 1,000 MW to 2,000 MW to enhance grid stability and optimize renewable energy utilization.
