German automaker Volkswagen has inaugurated a new store in the city of Chennai under its expansion drive in the state, strengthening its retail presence in the country.

Chennai is one of the key markets for Volkswagen in India.The ‘Virtus’ was one of the highest-selling sedans in this market in 2023. ‘With this inauguration of our newest touchpoint in Chennai, we are emphasizing our commitment to the rising need for premium, safe, and reliable vehicles throughout India..”, Volkswagen Passenger Cars India Brand Director Ashish Gupta said in a company statement. The new store ‘KUN Capital Motors’ is headed by Director Arun Uppuswami and has a five-car display and 25 service bays, among others.

In India, Volkswagen Passenger Cars sold 43,700 units in 2023, recording a year-on-year growth of 8 per cent. The Indian PV industry sold 4.1 million units in 2023, which was an 8.3 per cent jump year-on-year.

With this latest facility, Volkswagen has 208 sales and 142 service centres across 155 cities in India.
