In a move that reinforces India’s clean energy transition, TKIL Industries Pvt Ltd (formerly thyssenkrupp Industries India Pvt Ltd) has forged a strategic alliance with Germany’s 2G Energy International GmbH, a global leader in Combined Heat and Power (CHP) systems and gas engine technology. The collaboration aims to bring 100% hydrogen-ready CHP solutions to India’s industrial landscape—supporting the country’s ambitious goal of achieving 500 GW of renewable energy capacity by 2030.
Bringing Hydrogen-Ready CHP Systems to India
The partnership, announced in October 2025, marks a significant milestone in introducing German-engineered, hydrogen-compatible CHP technology to Indian industries. The systems—designed to achieve efficiencies of up to 98%—can run on a wide range of fuels, including biogas, natural gas, flare gas, syngas, and pure hydrogen.
Unlike conventional power plants, CHP systems utilize waste heat generated during electricity production, minimizing energy losses and delivering both power and thermal energy for industrial processes. The technology is particularly suited for high-energy sectors such as cement, steel, sugar, and paper, where demand for both electricity and heat is continuous and intensive.
Supporting India’s Industrial Energy Transition
According to the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE), India’s installed capacity from non-fossil sources has already surpassed 234 GW, underlining the growing emphasis on clean, efficient, and reliable power generation. The TKIL–2G Energy collaboration fits squarely into this framework, enabling industrial decarbonization through localized, scalable CHP solutions.
A Balanced Path to Sustainability
Commenting on the development, Vivek Bhatia, Managing Director and CEO of TKIL Industries, said the collaboration represents a major step in empowering Indian industries to decarbonize without compromising efficiency.
He noted that TKIL’s partnership with 2G Energy “extends our commitment to cleaner and more efficient energy systems” and reflects the company’s long-term goal of helping industries transition toward sustainability through innovation and advanced technology.
