German software protection and licensing company Wibu-Systems has established a Hyderabad-based Indian subsidiary to serve software vendors, intelligent-device manufacturers and industrial enterprises developing software-based products.

WIBU-SYSTEMS India Pvt. Ltd. was formally inaugurated in Bengaluru on 15 October 2026 at an event organised with VDMA India. The launch brought together company leadership and specialists from Germany.

Local Operations Linked to German Headquarters

Managing Director Dr. Ashok-Kumar Chandra-Sekaran leads the Indian subsidiary, combining responsibility for Indian business development with his role at Wibu-Systems’ headquarters in Karlsruhe.

“Our task is to connect the depth of Wibu-Systems’ technology with the realities of doing business in India,” Dr. Chandra-Sekaran said in the company’s announcement.

He said the local presence would support customers from initial licensing design through deployment and ongoing operations.

Software Protection and Licensing

The Indian operation will provide access to CodeMeter, Wibu-Systems’ software protection and licensing platform. According to the company, it protects software and firmware against unauthorised copying, manipulation and reverse engineering.

The platform also enables subscription, usage-based and feature-based licensing, allowing manufacturers to manage access to paid software functions.

India–Germany Technology Engagement

CEO and co-founder Oliver Winzenried said the investment reflected India’s engineering capabilities and growing development of proprietary digital products.

The subsidiary adds a software intellectual-property and licensing dimension to India–Germany technology engagement, linking the company’s German development teams with Indian software and industrial customers.
