Economic Boost and Employment Growth

The ‘Make in India’ initiative has significantly boosted the economy by enhancing production, attracting investment, fostering innovation, and building robust manufacturing infrastructure.

This initiative has also created numerous employment opportunities, with a focus on product indigenization to develop cost-competitive offerings tailored to domestic needs.

Launch and Achievements of ‘Make in India

Launched on September 25, 2014, the ‘Make in India’ initiative aims to make India a hub for manufacturing, design, and innovation. According to the Ministry of Commerce & Industry, the initiative currently focuses on 27 sectors under ‘Make in India 2.0’, implemented across various government levels.

The government has introduced several policies to improve the economic situation, including the Atmanirbhar Bharat packages, the Production Linked Incentive (PLI) Scheme in 14 sectors, and investment opportunities under the National Infrastructure Pipeline (NIP) and National Monetisation Pipeline (NMP). An institutional mechanism, Project Development Cells (PDCs), has been established in all concerned ministries to fast-track investments, as per the Commerce Ministry.
