In a significant development for European businesses in India, Philip Ackermann, the German Ambassador to India, welcomed the launch of the Federation of European Business in India (FEBI) in New Delhi.
The new organization aims to bolster the ongoing negotiations for a free trade agreement (FTA) between India and the European Union. FEBI’s Role in Enhancing Trade Relations
During an interview with ANI, Ackermann emphasized the importance of FEBI in the Indian business landscape. “It’s a great moment. I think FEBI is a very, very interesting network. It is now a network that has over a hundred companies from Europe, and it’s an umbrella organization of all the bilateral chambers of commerce,” he stated.
He underscored that Europe is playing an increasingly significant role in India’s economic ecosystem. “In the near future, we will see FEBI being very active in many fields, not least also when it comes to the FTA negotiations between India and the EU,” he added.
The Federation of European Business in India is an independent organization designed to unite European businesses and national bilateral chambers, amplifying their collective voice in EU policy advocacy. It acts as a credible intermediary between the government and businesses, ensuring that European interests are represented.
