The taz Panter Foundation, affiliated with Berlin-based daily taz, has opened applications for a hybrid workshop aimed at Indian journalists, focusing on the evolving geopolitical landscape and the growing significance of EU–India relations.

The programme, titled “In Dialogue: India and Germany in a Complex Geopolitical Landscape,” will select ten journalists from India across print, television, radio, and digital platforms. It is supported by the German Federal Foreign Office and combines an in-person conference in Delhi with a series of online seminars and editorial mentoring.

Focus on EU–India Relations

The initiative comes at a time when the EU–India partnership is gaining momentum, particularly in trade and strategic cooperation. Organisers highlight that the recently concluded free trade agreement in January 2026 has further underscored the importance of closer engagement between India, Germany, and the European Union.

Fully Funded Delhi Conference (June–July 2026)

Selected participants will attend a fully funded three-day conference in Delhi, expected to take place between 29 June and 3 July 2026.

The programme will include:

  • Expert briefings on EU–India relations
  • Visits to German institutions and organisations
  • Networking opportunities with German journalists and editors

Travel and accommodation expenses for the conference will be covered.

Online Programme Begins July 2026

Following the in-person component, the programme will continue with ten online seminars starting July 2026, including:

  • Five thematic sessions on EU–India and Germany–India relations
  • Five workshops focused on reporting skills in the digital age
  • Interactive exchanges with editors and journalists from leading German media outlets

Publication Timeline (November 2026)

The workshop will culminate in paid journalistic outputs:

  • Articles will be published in November 2026 as part of a special eight-page supplement in taz
  • Contributions are also expected to appear in participating journalists’ media outlets in India
  • A podcast featuring selected participants will be released under the Freie Rede series
